Erie County Public Library Hosts “Mini-Mystery Story Walk”

April 26, 2021

The Edinboro Branch Library is launching a new program that encourages patrons to get outdoors while reading, the Erie County Public Library announced Friday.

The “Mini Mystery Walk” involves reading a short mystery while taking a walk along Edinboro Lake and using sleuthing skills to solve the case.

The short mystery by author Hy Conrad is broken up into 10 parts, which are printed on a yard sign and placed in order along Lakeside Dr.

People will read the mystery as they walk and solve the case by scanning a QR code on the final sign and taking a survey. Participants who correctly solve the mystery will be entered to win a FitBit Inspire with the winner being drawn Aug. 31.

“The Edinboro Branch Library tries to focus on our community’s needs, and we made this activity to promote one of its best resources, Edinboro Lake,” said Randalee Gross, manager of Edinboro Branch Library. “Our patrons are always looking for something that is engaging for the whole family, and this walk provides the added benefit of exploring our community. If it is successful, we hope to add additional seasonal walks that help our patrons explore the Edinboro community while promoting the library, and scale this out to other neighborhoods served by the Erie County Public Library.”

The family-friendly activity runs through Tuesday, May 25.
